rown Ranches in Bee County, Texas was founded in 1924 and has a long history of producing quality Herefords and Hereford-Brahman cross F-1s.

Registered Hereford Cows: We maintain a Base herd of about 100 registered cows that Ed Brown started in 1945. Heifers are de-horned and retained for replacement heifers. Bulls sell at private treaty. Although it is somewhat unusual to have Hereford Cows this far south, these Hereford cattle have so many generations of breeding behind them that they have a certain amount of heat tolerance built in. In 2003 we purchased the top selling bull from Powell Herefords at Fort McKavett and the grand champion Hereford bull at the S.T.H.A. sale at Beeville. Our cows are rugged, brush-raised Herefords and will work for anyone, anywhere.

Commercial Herefords: We run a large number of commercial Hereford cows. For twenty years, we have purchased big, growthy, Hereford heifers from Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. These cows are bred to grey American Brahman bulls to produce some of the best F1 Tigerstripe heifers in Texas. These calves come in November, December, and January, and are weaned in July-August. The heifer calves are sold private treaty and the steers are retained through the feedlot. F1 steers are among the best gaining and highest yielding calves one can feed and they consistently out-perform all our other classes of feedlot cattle.
